Windows 7 works like this: when you press the Start button, the Start Menu shows up; you can then use it to launch applications, search for files, shutdown the PC, and so on. Windows 8 works differently: when you press the Start button, the Start Menu does not show up; what shows up instead is a Start Screen that, to be frank, is a bit annoying. If you want to get rid of this annoyance, you must get RetroUI Pro. Click the RetroUI Pro start button and you will be presented with the Start Menu you’ve grown to love.

From the aforementioned settings menu you can play with lots of options: boot to desktop, open the Start Menu when you press the Windows key, hide hot corners, show Metro apps in the Start Menu, set the number of pinned items to the Start Menu, pick the TabletView size, pick an icon for the start button, back up/restore pinned favorites, and more.
